The purpose of this observation of the dining experience is to determine whether the service takes into account:

1. The environment in which people are served their food.
2. People’s choices and preferences
3. The provision of assistance.
4. The presentation and taste of the food.

This dining experience observational tool can be used by home staff, service users and participation groups to monitor and improve upon the dining experience. Such use is positively encouraged as this provides the home with valuable feedback on the service it provides and supports improvements that will benefit all.
